Mastering the Biscuits

I’m still here, folks!  Trust me, I haven’t run out of blog ideas – I just haven’t had much time to write or post them but I'll try to get more out soon.  In the meantime...

My son is now a tax payer!!  He just got his first job at a fast food chain specializing in fried chicken and biscuits.  These biscuits are made from scratch on-site, not at some central location then frozen and shipped.  And in order to be a Master Biscuit Maker, my son’s first job is to learn how to make them!

Making the biscuits at this restaurant isn’t an automated process of pushing buttons and letting machines do all the work.  My son needs to study and memorize the restaurant’s recipe and then perfect the technique to get the right consistency for these southern-style biscuits.  My understanding is that there’s even a test!

This weekend I’ll get the scoop on his first impressions – how it feels to have a job, what the job itself is like, etc.  Let the fun begin - retirement is a LONG way off!!
